Generations at the Grand Canyon

How to hike with your 23 year old daughter while your knees are giving out, your feet hurt and you are just plain old?!

When my daughter, Jenna, flew out for a few days to hike parts of the Grand Canyon, I knew it would be a treat for us!  She was fit and motivated and willing to flex with the old fogies.   Scott and I had backpacked and hiked quite a bit already, but we are no spring chickens any more.  Jenna would head off in front of us and wait at a vista. She would head off and wait for us carrying both of our day packs. Jenna would head off in front of us and reach the top (or the bottom!) to set up the time-lapsed camera for a chunk of time.

And then we would arrive just when she was rested enough to continue on. A great blend of the young and the not so young! lol

Her spunk and positivity were an inspiration and motivated me to stop less for pictures and for breaks. She also motivated me to pick up my pace a bit more.

The days were delightful and the views spectacular. (take a look at some photos below!)  We have wonderful memories and a wonderful daughter.
